Lincolnshire, IL (Sports Network) - Veteran Justin Wilson has landed the seat vacated by four-time Champ Car Series champion Sebastien Bourdais. Bourdais left to drive in the Formula One Series for Toro Rosso. On Tuesday, Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing announced that the British driver would team with 19-year-old, second-year driver Graham Rahal.
"I am extremely pleased and proud to be joining Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing," said Wilson. "For the entire time I have been competing in Champ Car, they have been the strongest team."
The team will be in its 26th year of racing and owns eight championships, 106 poles and 105 race wins.
Wilson has driven in Champ Car since 2004 when he drove for Mi-Jack/Conquest Racing and finished 11th overall in his rookie season. He jumped to RuSPORT in 2005 finishing third overall. The 29-year-old was runner-up to Bourdais in both 2006 and 2007. He has won four races and five poles in 55 starts.
