Always a challenge, Singapore proved to be a tough race this weekend for the newbies in the track
And also for some veterans of the Formula 1. Singapore race is famous and catalogued by the drivers as one of the longest and tiresome race of all times. The circuit is known for the length of the street race, the humidity and the high levels of heat. A tough and tiresome race indeed, Jenson Button of the team McLaren Mercedes quotes that after two hours of racing, drivers usually end the race still sitting at the cockpit because if they get out too quick, they probably get dizzy and light-headed. Everyone is usually totally drained by the end because of the heat and dehydration, and you can notice it on the pictures taken at the podium; so even celebrating a victory is tough.
I believe the heat and humidity are just part of the challenge and is something that makes the circuit of Singapore a real competitive race. Not every race has conditions that can make a Driver feel like his body is making a real physical effort. Some people even donīt think of motorsports as real sports; believing that many factors depends on the machine strength, design effectiveness and quality and not only in the pilot real skill and guts.
Driving a F1 car is a challenge already, not everyone can drive at such high speeds and there is where the driver uses all the knowledge and skills acquired during the races. Any person can drive in high speeds on a highway with a Sedan and thinking ĻI am the fastest and furiousĻ...that way of thinking doesnīt guarantee that this person will make it alive on the next corner. Now imagine the heat embracing you inside an individual cockpit with your balls sweating bullets and rain blocking the vision in a competitive race and trying not to get splattered on the wall after the next chicane while trying to get the squared flag announcing that you are the first to reach the finish line, well that is not easy feat.
With conditions like those presented at the Singapore race; we can see why the Formula 1 drivers must have an exceptional physical condition and resistance to manage driving a fast furnace coffin in a curvy road where the minimal error could prove to be lethal. Maybe the worries of Button are well founded and the reasons he is suggesting that the length of the road should be shortened. For Felipe Massa of the Scuderia Ferrari, Singapore lap itīs like two times one in Monaco. For others like Heikki Koalainen of Team Lotus, the hard difficult of the race is what it makes it exciting.
Singapore itīs a very demanding track; itīs different and could have unexpected turn overīs, and thatīs the reason of why its one of the most important championship races in the world. Drivers who accomplish this track to the end will definitely gain their skills forged in steel.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
