Kovalainen, Hamilton penalized for blocking

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Sports Network) - McLaren drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton have been each dropped five spots on the starting grid for Sunday's Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix for a blocking infraction during qualifying.

Kovalainen and Hamilton were set to start in the third and fourth places on the grid, but will now start eighth and ninth, respectively.

Race stewards determined that both McLaren drivers blocked rival drivers during the final stages in qualifying.

Jarno Trulli will now start third and Robert Kubica fourth. Nick Heidfeld, one of the impeded drivers, will move up to fifth on the grid, while Mark Webber will start sixth. Fernando Alonso, another impeded driver, will move up to seventh.

Felipe Massa won the pole position for Sunday's race, with Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen starting alongside.
