Alguersuari remains at Toro Rosso for 2010

Faenza, Italy (Sports Network) - Toro Rosso announced on Friday that Jaime Alguersuari will remain in the team's driver lineup for the 2010 Formula One season.

Alguersuari replaced Sebastien Bourdais at the Red Bull-owned team during the middle of the 2009 season. At age 19, the Spanish-born driver became the youngest-ever competitor in F1 when he made his debut last July in Hungary. His best finish in eight grand prix so far is 14th, which came in Brazil.

"Considering that he made his debut only halfway through 2009, at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with no prior testing, he did a good job, making steady progress throughout the second half of the year, with a mature approach considering he is still only 19 years old," team principal Franz Tost said in a statement. "This season, he will again face a steep learning curve, as all the circuits in the first part of the season will be new to him. Jaime's appointment also confirms our team's commitment to bringing on graduates of the Red Bull young driver program."

Alguersuari won the British Formula Three championship in 2008. He was competing in the World Series by Renault when he landed his ride at Toro Rosso last year. Alguersuari will team with Sebastien Buemi, who is entering his second year of F1 competition.
