Daytona Beach, FL (Sports Network) - NASCAR has penalized Danica Patrick's No.7 JR Motorsports team in the Nationwide Series for rule infractions that occurred during last Saturday's race at Phoenix International Raceway.
According to a news release from NASCAR on Tuesday, Patrick's car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules) and 20A-2.3A (improperly attached weight) of the 2011 series rule book.
Crew chief Tony Eury Jr. received a $10,000 fine and was placed on probation until March 28, 2012. Neither Patrick nor team co-owner Kelley Earnhardt (Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s sister) had points deducted from the championship standings.
Patrick, who resides in Phoenix, finished 21st in the race.
