Ren, Kevin Harvick Inc. part ways

Kernersville, NC (Sports Network) - Rick Ren, the crew chief for reigning Camping World Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday Jr., has left Kevin Harvick Inc. to pursue management opportunities within the sport, the team announced on Thursday.

Ren guided Hornaday to the series championship in 2007 and '09. When Hornaday won in August at Nashville, Ren became the winningest crew chief in the series with 27 career victories.

"Ron and Rick have been a powerful combination over the last few years in the Truck Series," team co-owner Kevin Harvick said in a statement. "With success comes opportunity and we wish him well in the next step of his career."

Hornaday also won the series title in 1996 and '98, driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc.

Harvick said an announcement regarding Hornaday's crew chief for the 2010 season could be expected as early as next week.
