Hampton, GA (Sports Network) - Kevin Harvick won his third consecutive Camping World Truck Series race with a dominating performance in Saturday's E-Z-GO 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Harvick led 100 of 130 laps and easily beat Kyle Busch by 1.3 seconds for his seventh career victory in the series. He ended the 2009 season by winning at Phoenix and Homestead. Harvick did not compete in the season-opener three weeks ago at Daytona.
"It was a really fast truck," Harvick said. "Everybody [on the team] did a great job today. They were flawless on pit road, and we didn't make a whole of changes on the truck all weekend."
Harvick has now won all three of NASCAR's national touring series races at Atlanta. He won his first Cup race in March 2001 at Atlanta, in just his third start. His Nationwide win here came last September. Harvick also has a win in each one of the top three series at Phoenix.
While Harvick captured the win at Atlanta, his teammate and defending series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. finished 34th after crashing early in the 200-mile race. Hornaday Jr. started on the pole, but made contact with Busch while battling him and Matt Crafton for the lead on the opening lap.
Hornaday's left-rear tire blew 20 laps later, sending him into the wall and out of the event.
"It wasn't about Busch," Hornaday said. "He didn't do anything wrong. It was just three wide. I was already in the corner when [the spotter] said, 'three wide.' I couldn't go back up there and come back down."
Hornaday is now 28th in points and trails new leader Todd Bodine by 192 markers. He finished 27th at Daytona after being caught up in a 10-truck pileup early in that race.
Busch finished second for his best performance so far in his first year as driver and owner. He started his season with a 22nd-place finish at Daytona.
"It was a good race for us," Busch said. "We weren't quite as fast as we like to have been, but we're not sure if that came from our damage earlier in the race. We still had a decent effort."
Aric Almirola took the third spot, while Nationwide veteran Steve Wallace, who made his truck debut, came in fourth.
Bodine overcame an incident with Crafton midway through the event to finish fifth. Crafton, who finished second to Hornaday in points last year, got loose and bumped into Bodine, sending both drivers into the wall.
Crafton made contact with the wall for the second time shortly after and spent more than 30 laps in the garage for repairs. He wound up finishing 27th.
Ricky Carmichael, Timothy Peters, who won at Daytona, Johnny Sauter, Rick Crawford and rookie Austin Dillon completed the top-10.
Peters trails Bodine by four points heading into Martinsville on March 27.
