NASCAR - Camping World Truck - CampingWorld.com 200 Preview

NOTES: Mike Skinner won last year's race at Gateway in the most unlikely circumstances. Matt Crafton spoiled Ron Hornaday's opportunity for a dominating victory when Crafton spun him out just after a late-race restart. Hornaday hit the wall and slid down the track, with Jason Young slamming into the back of his truck. Crafton took the lead, but NASCAR penalized him for rough driving. That allowed Skinner to take the lead for the first time. Skinner then held off Johnny Sauter in a green-white-finish for his third and final victory of the 2009 season. Skinner led the final six laps for his 28th career win. Hornaday, who led 116 of 162 laps, attempted to become the first driver to win a truck race at Gateway in consecutive years. Colin Braun started on the pole, but placed 19th. Three NASCAR Sprint Cup regulars will climb back behind the wheel of a truck Friday at Gateway. Series owner Kevin Harvick (No. 2 STUBB'S BBQ Sauce Chevrolet) will join Max Papis (No. 9 Geico Toyota) and Brad Keselowski (No. 129 Miller Lite Dodge) on the grid. Harvick and Papis have made three previous starts this season. Keselowski has two. Harvick leads the way with two series victories (Atlanta and Martinsville) in 2010. Although he won by less than a second, Ron Hornaday Jr dominated this race in 2008, as he defeated pole sitter Dennis Setzer. Hornaday started second on the grid and quickly took the lead on the first lap. He led the first 21 circuits around Gateway International. Overall, Hornaday led four times for 113 laps, including the final 30 for his 37th career Camping World Truck Series title. Currently third on the points list, Hornaday's win total now stands at 45. Johnny Benson reclaimed the lead on lap 148 and held on to edge Ron Hornaday Jr under caution for his eighth career title in 2007. Benson, who started fourth on the grid, led twice for 32 laps, while Hornaday led four times for a race-high 94 laps. Pole sitter Mike Skinner finished a distant 28th after leading the first 31 laps. In 2006, Todd Bodine registered his ninth Truck Series title, as he clipped Ted Musgrave by less than a second. Bodine, who's win total now stands at 13, led three times for a race-high 66 laps after starting from the third position. Pole sitter David Ragan failed to finish the race due to an accident and placed 28th. Bodine, who led early in the race, reclaimed the lead from David Reutimann on lap 147 and held on for the win. Reutimann led twice for 63 laps and finished third. Musgrave became the first multiple winner of this race in 2005, as he edged out Dennis Setzer by less than a second. Musgrave, who started on the pole, led 158 of the 160 laps, as he won for the 16th time on the Truck Series. Musgrave is also the only pole sitter to capture this event, as he raced to victory from the pole in 2001 in addition to 2005. The July 23rd AAA Insurance 200 at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis is the next Camping World Truck Series event. Ron Hornaday Jr is the defending race winner. 07/13 17:19:13 ET
