NASCAR - Camping World Truck - Dover 200 Preview

NOTES: Brian Scott capitalized on a late-race pit strategy to win this race last year, on a day when tires wreaked havoc for several Camping World Truck Series drivers at Dover. During the 10th and final caution for separate accidents involving Kyle Busch and Colin Braun, Scott and crew chief Jeff Hensley elected to stay on the track and inherit the lead, while several of the leaders pitted for new tires. Scott's old tires held up for his first career Truck Series victory in his 39th start. The Boise, ID-native led only the last 14 laps in the race that was postponed one day due to rain. Scott will not be on hand to defend his title, as he drives exclusively on the Nationwide circuit. In just his sixth career Truck Series start, Scott Speed raced to victory in 2008, as he defeated Jack Sprague by 3.379 seconds. After starting fourth, Speed led the final 51 laps for the title. Pole sitter Mike Skinner placed seventh, while Kyle Busch, who led for a race-high 96 laps, finished 27th. All-time Camping World Trucks wins leader Ron Hornaday Jr raced to victory in 2007, as he crossed the finish line seven seconds ahead of Stacy Compton. Hornaday, who started 15th, claimed the lead for the first time on lap 107, but relinquished the top spot 23 laps later. Hornaday regained the advantage on the 137th lap, and then held it for the rest of the way for his 31st career Truck win. In 2006, Mark Martin defeated Carl Edwards by more than three seconds to record his fourth career Truck Series title. Martin, who started 13th, took the lead on lap 165 and ran in front for the remaining 35 circuits. When Kyle Busch crossed the finish line in 2005, he won by just 0.745 of a second ahead of Tony Stewart for his second career Camping World title. His win total now stands at 17, placing him 5th on the all-time wins list with Ted Musgrave and Todd Bodine. The pole sitter has captured this race twice, the first two years of its existence. Kurt Busch was the first to accomplish the feat in 2000, followed by Scott Riggs in 2001. The pole position is the only starting position that has produced multiple winners. The furthest a driver has started and won at Dover occurred in 2007 when Hornaday rolled off 15th at the start. Mike Skinner is the only driver with multiple poles at Dover, 2007 and 2008. Dodge leads all manufacturers with four victories at Dover, though the last came in 2004. Rick Crawford and David Starr lead all drivers in top 10s at Dover, with six. The closest finish at Dover came in 2000, when Kurt Busch won by 0.210 seconds. The May 21st North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway is the next Camping World Truck Series event. Ron Hornaday Jr is the defending race champion. 05/13 14:55:32 ET
