NASCAR - Camping World Truck - E-Z-GO 200 Preview

NOTES: Kyle Busch is certainly the driver to beat this week, as he seeks his third straight Truck Series title in Atlanta. Not only is Busch the two-time defending champion, but he has raced five times at Atlanta Motor Speedway with four wins and five top-10 finishes. Starting from the pole last season, Busch edged Kevin Harvick by less than a second for his 11th career Camping World title. Busch led the final five laps to post a 0.122 of a second victory. Harvick, who started third on the grid, led four times for a race-high 68 laps, while Busch led for 33. In 2007, Mike Skinner, who started on the pole, outdueled Todd Bodine to claim the 21st of his 28 career Truck Series title. Skinner, who led five times for a race-high 67 laps, reclaimed the lead on lap 124 and held on to edge Bodine by less than a second. Back in 2006, Bodine cruised to a six-length victory over Mark Martin, for his eight career Truck Series title. Bodine, who started on the pole, led for the first 14 laps, until Martin took the lead for the next 17 laps. The two traded for the lead throughout the race, until Bodine reclaimed the top spot with 10 laps remaining. The win, in front of 45,000 fans, was the first of three checkered flags in 2006. Bodine led seven times for 38 laps, while Martin led six times for 97 laps. Bodine, the 2006 Truck Series champion, now totals 17 career victories. Ron Hornaday Jr, starting from the 18th position, edged Bobby Labonte by less than a second for his 27th career title in 2005. The result was the third closest finish in Truck Series history, as he finished 0.008 seconds ahead of Labonte. Only Butch Miller's 0.001-second win over Mike Skinner (July 15, 1995) and Terry Labonte's 0.006-second victory over Geoffrey Bodine (September 5, 1995) were closer finishes. Hornaday now has 45 Truck titles. Toyota has won this race the past four seasons. The pole sitter has now captured this race three times in the past four seasons. Six of the 10 previous races in Atlanta have been won by a driver starting fifth or better. The March 27th Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway is the next Camping World Truck Series event, where Harvick will defend his title. 03/03 13:45:06 ET
