NASCAR - Camping World Truck - Nashville 200 Preview

NOTES: Ron Hornaday Jr put on a dominating performance last year at Nashville Superspeedway, as he led 115 of 154 laps, en route to his 45th career Truck Series title. With the win, Hornaday became the first driver to win five consecutive races in one of NASCAR's three national touring series since 1971. Richard Petty and Bobby Allison both did it in the Cup Series in 1971. Petty holds the NASCAR record with 10 straight Cup wins in 1967. Although his streak ended the following week, Hornaday has added another win to his resume just two weeks ago in Indianapolis. In 2008, Johnny Benson became the fifth driver in NASCAR Truck Series history to win three consecutive races with a come-from-behind victory in the Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville. Benson passed Erik Darnell with three laps remaining to claim his 13th career truck win. Todd Bodine started on the pole, but finished third after leading for a race-high 74 laps. Benson started 16th and led only the final three laps, as he won by 0.889 seconds. With the win, Benson became the first two-time winner of this race. Travis Kvapil captured the Nashville 200 in 2007. Mike Skinner led the first 102 laps, but Kvapil's truck came to life, as he caught Skinner and then made the winning pass. Kvapil led the final 49 laps and crossed the finish line 2.403 seconds ahead of Ron Hornaday Jr for his third truck victory of the season and the eighth of his career. Skinner, who started on the pole, placed third. In 2006, Benson won for the third time that year, as he crossed the finish line, just 0.492 seconds ahead of Jack Sprague. Starting from the 22nd position, Benson worked his way towards the front and finally claimed the lead on the final lap, as he outran Sprague for the win. The Nashville 200 has been won from the pole twice -- Scott Riggs in 2001 and Bliss the following year. Benson started 22nd in 2006, which is the furthest back a driver has started and won a a truck event at Nashville. The Camping World Truck Series returns to Darlington Raceway for the first time since 2004 with the August 14th Too Tough To Tame 200. 08/06 13:02:12 ET
