NASCAR - Camping World Truck - NC Lottery Education 200 Preview

NOTES: Another milestone win for Ron Hornaday Jr last year, as he captured the checkered flag by 1.669 seconds ahead of Kyle Busch for his 40th career Truck Series title. Hornaday led the final 29 laps to join Busch as the only two-time winners of this race. Hornaday started third on the grid, matching Busch as the only driver to start in the top-5 and capture the race. The past five seasons at Charlotte Motor Speedway have been dominated by two drivers, Hornaday and Busch as the duo have won four of those races. The only driver to squeeze out victory in that span was Matt Crafton. It seems that 178 was the charm for Crafton, as he raced to victory in 2008. The 178 refers to the number of races in which it took Crafton to gain his first victory in the Truck Series, a dubious record. Crafton took advantage of a late-race crash to cross the finish line 0.184 of a second ahead of Chad McCumbee. Crafton has raced in all seven of the NC Lottery 200s and has finished in the top-10 each time. Win number 30 for Hornaday Jr came in impressive fashion, as he dominated the 2007 race. Hornaday, who started seventh on the grid, led three times for a whopping 98 laps, including the final 39 to defeat A.J. Allmendinger by 0.244 of a second. Pole sitter Mike Skinner, who led three times for 21 laps, placed eighth. Hornaday scored a perfect Driver Rating of 150.0 in victory. Hornaday's win total now stands at 39 after posting six wins in 2008. In just his 19th career Truck Series start, Kyle Busch made it two straight, as he won for the second consecutive season. Busch, starting from the 20th position, crossed the finish line well ahead of runner-up Terry Cook for his fourth career Camping World title. Busch, who led three times for a total of 96 laps, posted a 3.154 seconds win, sending Cook to his second straight runner-up finish at this race. Pole sitter Mike Skinner placed 31st, as he failed to finish due to engine problems. Busch and Skinner traded the lead on several occasions before Busch took over at lap 88 for the rest of the race. In 2005, Busch defeated Cook by less than a second, as he became the youngest winner at the age of 20 in Truck Series history. David Starr's third-place finish in 2004 is the best result by a pole sitter. Last year's pole qualifying was rained out. The June 4th WinStar World Casino 400 at Texas Motor Speedway is the next Camping World Truck Series event, the 25th time the Series has raced at TMS. Todd Bodine won last year's race there. 05/18 14:28:18 ET
