Nats activate Belliard; Clippard sent back to minors

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Washington Nationals infielder Ronnie Belliard was activated off the 15-day disabled list following Monday's game against San Francisco.
Belliard had been sidelined since mid-May with a strained left calf.
In 26 games this season, Belliard is batting just .194 with two home runs and nine runs batted in.
The Nationals opened a roster spot by optioning pitcher Tyler Clippard to Triple-A Columbus. Clippard was recalled on Monday to make the start against the Giants and took the loss in a 3-2 setback, allowing three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings.
