Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds reinstated right- handed pitcher Josh Fogg from the 15-day disabled list Saturday, in time to toe the rubber in an evening tilt with the Washington Nationals.
Fogg, who was sent to the DL June 1 with lumbar back spasms, fared well in his first start since a disastrous six-run, 3 1/3 frame outing May 31 against Atlanta. He tossed six innings of one-run ball on six hits in taking Aaron Harang's spot in the rotation. Harang had to be skipped after experiencing stiffness in his right forearm. Fogg did not factor into the decision and finished with a walk and a strikeout. Harang is now scheduled to pitch Tuesday against the Cubs.
The 31-year-old Fogg is 1-2 with a 8.39 earned-run average in 12 games, including five starts, this season.
In a concurrent move, the club placed outfielder Norris Hopper on the 15-day DL with a torn ulnar collateral ligament.
Hopper is batting .200 (10-for-50) in 26 games this season.
