Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves pitcher Manny Acosta left Sunday's 7-6, 17-inning, series-finale win against the Houston Astros with a strained right hamstring.
Acosta, a switch-hitter, was forced to bat for himself twice, striking out in the 14th while batting right-handed. In the 16th, he turned around and batted left-handed against lefty Tim Byrdak. Acosta pulled up lame after crossing first base on a force out at second. Fellow pitcher Jair Jurrjens was forced into service, coming in to run for Acosta.
Acosta hurled three innings of shutout ball, giving up two hits and a walk before exiting.
The 27-year-old right-hander is 3-5 with a 4.02 earned run average in 41 games this season for Atlanta.
