Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox placed reliever Scott Linebrink on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with inflammation of the right shoulder. He is scheduled to have an MRI.
The 31-year-old Linebrink had tossed just one inning since July 9 and was unavailable for Friday's series opener against Detroit after being unable to get loose.
He is 2-2 with a save and 2.31 earned run average in 42 games this season, his first with the White Sox.
In a corresponding move, the club recalled pitcher Ehren Wassermann from Triple-A Charlotte, where he was 1-0 with a 1.67 ERA in 24 games. Wassermann, 27, made 11 appearances for the White Sox during a stint from April 27 to June 3 and posted an 0-1 record with an inflated 14.85 ERA.
