Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Cliff Lee picked up his major league-best 21st victory after pitching 7 1/3 effective innings, and helped give the Indians a 3-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Lee (21-2) scattered seven hits and allowed just one run while walking one and striking out five for Cleveland. Jensen Lewis pitched a scoreless ninth for his eighth save of the season.
"I have continued this whole seasosn to focus on each day for what it is," Lee said. "(I try) to give the team a chance to win in each start and try to get as deep into the game (as I can). I kept the main mindset today."
Victor Martinez batted 2-for-3 and drove in all three runs while Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and two runs scored for the Indians, who have won four out of their last six.
Zack Greinke (10-10) pitched well for six innings but received the loss, giving up three runs on five hits, with eight strikeouts and two walks.
"In the last game, we got the lead early," Greinke said. "I could (have) attack(ed) guys better. Today I got behind early, so I still have to pitch."

The Indians got on the board in the first. With two outs, Choo and Jhonny Peralta both singled, and Martinez followed with the third consecutive single to score both runners for a 2-0 lead.
Cleveland extended its lead in the sixth. Choo led off with a double, and two batters later Martinez hit an RBI double to make it 3-0.
The Royals cut into the lead in the home half of the sixth. Guillen was hit by a pitch, and three batters later John Buck singled him over to third. Callaspo followed with an RBI single to cut the Indians' lead to two.
