Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Michael Washington scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds, leading the sizzling Arkansas Razorbacks to a 67-61 triumph over seventh-ranked Texas at a raucous Bud Walton Arena.
Stefan Welsh had 20 points, while Courtney Fortson totaled 13 points, 10 boards and five assists for the Razorbacks (12-1), who have won 10 straight games and bested a pair of top-10 teams during that run. Arkansas knocked off previously fourth-ranked Oklahoma exactly a week ago.
Damion James finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Longhorns (11-3), who have dropped two of four. Gary Johnson provided a spark off the bench, registering 15 points and 12 boards. Justin Mason added 10 points, seven assists and six rebounds in the loss.
The Longhorns led 52-46 with just about nine minutes to go in regulation, but Arkansas refused to pack it in and countered with an 11-0 burst.
Mason's tip-in off a Varez Ward miss cut the deficit to 62-61 with 48.2 seconds remaining.
Moments later, Washington faked a shot to draw in the defender, then beat his man off the dribble en route to the cylinder. He was fouled as he dunked and sank the free throw to put Arkansas ahead by four with 22.5 left on the clock.
A.J. Abrams then missed three consecutive shots at the other end and Welsh sealed the victory with a layup.
The Razorbacks led 13-6 early on after Rotnei Clarke knocked down a three- pointer, but a Dexter Pittman bucket put Texas up by one at 19-18 with 8:45 remaining, and the Longhorns carried a 31-27 advantage to the break.
