USGA announces 2010 and 2011 U.S. Junior sites

Far Hills, NJ (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association announced on Thursday the sites for the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.

The Egypt Valley Country Club in Michigan will host in 2010, while the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Washington gets the honor the following year.

Egypt Valley has been used for several USGA qualifiers and Golf Association of Michigan championships. It also played host to a Champions Tour event from 1994-2004 and for the 2010 U.S. Junior it will use nines from both the Ridge and Valley courses.

"We are excited to have the first USGA championship in the Grand Rapids and western Michigan area," said John O'Donovan, general chairman for the 2010 U.S. Junior Amateur. "We believe the golf course has proven that it is worthy of the challenge and that the community will support this championship."

Gold Mountain will get its second USGA Championship. It staged the 2006 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

"It is a very special community feeling to host the U.S. Junior Amateur," said Scott Alexander, Gold Mountain director of golf. "Bremerton is a small community, so when something like this comes to our town, people get very involved. And the wildlife and our view of the Olympic Mountains are spectacular."

The dates for 2010 will be July 19-24, then July 18-23 in 2011.

The 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship is set for July 20-25 at Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey.
