Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - New York Islanders goaltender Joey MacDonald left Tuesday's game versus the crosstown rival Rangers with an undisclosed injury.
Less than five minutes into the first period, MacDonald made a save and the whistle blew. The goaltender then remained on the ice and trainers helped him to the locker room.
Yann Danis replaced MacDonald.
MacDonald, of course, has been filling in for franchise netminder Rick DiPietro, who is out of the lineup indefinitely with a knee injury. Entering Tuesday's action, MacDonald, in 36 starts this season, held a record of 11-21-4 to go along with a 3.28 goals-against average.
