New York, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte and New York Mets utility man Fernando Tatis filed for free agency on Thursday, the 15th and final day to do so.
With Pettitte and Tatis filing, the total stands at 171 players who will hit the open market at midnight.
Pettitte, 37, had a terrific season for the World Series champion New York Yankees, going 14-8 to go along with a 4.16 ERA. He was even better in the playoffs, as he went 4-0 with a 3.52 ERA in his five starts, getting the win in all three series-clinchers.
Tatis, meanwhile, appeared in 125 games for the Mets and hit .282 with eight home runs and 48 RBI, while playing a number of positions.
