Giants add relief depth via trade with Red Sox

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox shipped reliever Ramon Ramirez to San Francisco on Saturday, though it is still unclear who the Giants gave up in return.

Ramirez has struggled this season after a stellar 2009 campaign, as his earned-run average has climbed from 2.84 to 4.46 over 44 appearances. The 28- year-old right-hander has also logged two saves and two holds this year.

In his career, Ramirez is 16-14 with a 3.55 ERA in 268 games -- all out of the bullpen.
