Clearwater, FL (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies signed pitcher Kyle Kendrick to a two-year, $7.5 million contract on Sunday.
Last month, the Phillies had avoided arbitration with the right-hander by agreeing to a contract for the upcoming campaign.
Kendrick went 8-6 with a 3.22 earned run average in 34 games, 15 of them starts, for Philadelphia last season. He was particularly effective against the NL East, going 5-2 with a 2.14 ERA in 18 games.
The 27-year-old has spent all five of his major league seasons with the Phillies, who selected the Houston native in the seventh round of the 2003 draft.
Kendrick has compiled a 43-30 record with a 4.41 ERA in 127 career games -- 98 starts.
