San Francisco Giants (0-1) at Los Angeles Dodgers (1-0), 10:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Joe Torre hopes to get as good of a pitching performance this evening as he did on Opening Day, as the Los Angeles Dodgers play the second of their three-game series with the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.

In Monday's opener, Brad Penny threw 6 2/3 shutout innings to lift Los Angeles to a 5-0 win to give Torre a win in his debut as manager of the Dodgers. Penny (1-0) gave up four hits and two walks, and fanned three for LA, while Rafael Furcal went 3-for-4 with a double, and Jeff Kent had two hits, including a two-run homer for the Dodgers.

Torre headed to the West Coast after a wildly successful 12-year tenure with the New York Yankees in which the 67-year-old guided the Bronx Bombers to four World Series championships, six American League pennants and 10 AL East titles.

Barry Zito (0-1) allowed four runs on eight hits in five innings of work for the Giants, duplicating their result of last season's opener. San Francisco was shut out in that game, a 7-0 loss to San Diego, and Zito was the losing pitcher of record.

Aaron Rowand, who signed a five-year contract with the Giants this past winter, went 2-for-3.

The Dodgers will give the ball to right-hander Derek Lowe this evening. Lowe was 12-14 last season with a 3.88 ERA in 33 games (32 starts). In 10 starts against the Giants, Lowe is 3-5 with a 3.41 ERA.

San Francisco will counter with one of its young arms in 23-year-old right- hander Matt Cain, who was 7-16 last season with a 3.65 ERA. He has struggled in his career against the Dodgers, going 0-3 in five starts, while pitching to a 5.96 ERA.

The Dodgers went 10-8 against San Francisco in 2007, but the Giants won six of the nine tilts that were held in Los Angeles. The Dodgers are 20-9 over the last 29 overall encounters between these hated rivals, however.
