Pittsburgh Pirates (2-1) at Florida Marlins (1-2), 7:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates had to work extra hard for a series win last time out. Led by Xavier Nady, the club will try to win a game in nine innings tonight, when it visits the Florida Marlins in the opener of a three- game series at Dolphin Stadium.

The Pirates, who began the season last year with three straight wins, took two of three against Atlanta to open this campaign. They took the season opener, 12-11, in 12 innings and after a 10-2 setback on Wednesday, recorded a 4-3, 10-inning win on Thursday over the Braves.

Nady hit the game-winning three-run homer on Monday in the 12th inning, and on Thursday he smacked an RBI single in the 10th frame to lift the Pirates. Matt Capps held Atlanta scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to earn the save.

Capps was the last of five Pittsburgh pitchers who shut down an Atlanta offense that had scored 21 runs in the first two games of the series. Zach Duke gave up 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings, but just three runs -- two of which were earned.

Tyler Yates (1-0) worked a one-hit ninth inning to pick up the win for the Pirates. Pittsburgh put up six overall hits, with Jose Bautista, Nate McLouth, and Ronny Paulino all doubling. Freddy Sanchez and Paulino each drove in a run.

Jack Wilson had a hit and an RBI for Pittsburgh, but left the game in the seventh inning with a strained left calf. The shortstop is listed as day-to- day and will be re-evaluated today.

After a rough spring, Matt Morris will toe the rubber for the Pirates tonight. Morris made 32 combined starts with San Francisco and Pittsburgh last year, going just 10-11 with a 4.89 earned run average. A two-time NL All-Star, he was 3-4 with a horrid 6.10 ERA in 11 starts with the Pirates.

Morris, a 33-year-old right-hander, was tagged for six runs in seven innings in his only start against Florida in 2007. That loss came while with the Giants, and Morris is 7-5 with a 4.54 ERA in 14 career tests (11 starts) against the Marlins. However, he has lost four of his last five decisions against them.

Florida began the season by winning just one of its three games against the New York Mets, and enters this test coming off the worst shutout loss in team history after getting blanked, 13-0, by New York on Wednesday.

Andrew Miller (0-1), who is one of the six players acquired from the Detroit Tigers in the blockbuster offseason trade involving Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis, was roughed up for five runs on eight hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings of his Marlins debut.

Florida was outscored 24-7 in the series and hit just .211 as a team.

One lone bright spot for the Marlins was Hanley Ramirez, who accounted for two of the team's six hits on Wednesday. Ramirez hit .375 (4-for-8) in the series with a pair of runs scored, a triple and an RBI.

Scott Olsen gets the starting assignment tonight for the Marlins, and he is 3-0 with a 3.96 ERA in four career starts against the Pirates. The left-hander made a pair of starts versus Pittsburgh last year, going 1-0 while posting his second career 10-strikeout game against the club back on June 28.

The 24-year-old, who missed a start in the spring due to tendinitis, went 10-15 with a 5.81 ERA in 33 starts last year. Olsen lost six of his final seven decisions in 2007.

The Marlins lost four of their seven meetings with the Pirates last year and Pittsburgh has won three of its last four against them. Florida has won six of its last nine as the host in the series, though.
