(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays target their third straight win this afternoon, when they continue their four-game series with the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

After winning the opener of this set on Friday, Tampa made it two in a row in the Bronx on Saturday, as Jonny Gomes homered and drove in four runs while Edwin Jackson put together a solid performance on the mound to lead the Rays to a 6-3 win.

Jackson (1-0) gave up one run on five hits over six innings, and Troy Percival tossed a perfect ninth to pick up his first save of the season.

Andy Pettitte (0-1), who had been bothered by lower back spasms, was activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to the game and was less than stellar in five innings of work for New York. The veteran left-hander surrendered five runs -- three earned -- on eight hits, striking out three and walking two.

Jorge Posada finished 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Yankees, and Alex Rodriguez added two hits.

The Rays will pin their hopes today on right-hander James Shields, who has struggled mightily in his young career against the Yanks. In five starts against them, Shields is 0-4 and has pitched to an 8.58 ERA. Last season Shields dropped both of his starts to the Yankees, allowing 19 hits and 16 runs over 9 1/3 innings.

Shields, though, enters today's tilt on a winning note after getting the victory in his season debut last Monday against the Baltimore Orioles. He surrendered two runs and five hits over seven frames.

New York will counter with Chien-Ming Wang, who also picked up a win in his season debut. Against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, Wang gave up two runs and six hits over seven innings to nail down the victory.

Wang has faced the Rays 11 times in his career and is 6-4 with a 3.82 ERA against them.

On the injury front, Yankees first baseman Jason Giambi had to leave Saturday's game with a groin strain and is questionable for today's tilt. Also, the Yankees could have manager Joe Girardi back on the bench Sunday. Girardi has missed the last two games with an upper respiratory infection.

New York won 10 of their 18 matchups with the Rays a year ago and were 5-4 against them in the Bronx. The Yanks are 23-15 over the past two seasons against Tampa, losing just eight of their 20 games at home to the Rays over that time.
