(Sports Network) - Right-hander Shaun Marcum looks for his first career win against the Baltimore Orioles tonight when his Toronto Blue Jays visit Camden Yards in the finale of a brief two-game series between American League East Division rivals.
The 26-year-old Missouri native is 0-1 in six lifetime appearances against the Orioles, including four starts. He's allowed 24 hits and 20 runs in 24 1/3 innings, walking 12 and striking out 15.
Marcum has pitched well in two overall outings in 2008, allowing nine hits and four runs in 14 innings while defeating Boston and getting a no-decision against Oakland.
He was 12-6 with a 4.13 earned run average for Toronto in 38 appearances last season, including 25 starts.
Baltimore will counter with 37-year-old righty Steve Trachsel, who is unbeaten in seven career starts against the Blue Jays, going 6-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 43 1/3 innings. Trachsel briefly pitched for Toronto in 2000, going 2-5 in 11 starts with a 5.29 ERA in 63 innings.
Trachsel's split a pair of overall decisions in 2008, surrendering nine hits and four earned runs in 12 innings.
On Monday, Kevin Millar drove in three runs, and Matt Albers tossed five- innings of one-run ball to earn the win as Baltimore eked out a 4-3 win. Millar finished 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a run scored, while Adam Jones went 3-for-3 to lead the offensive attack for the Orioles, winners of two of three.
Albers (2-0) allowed one run on five hits, walking one and striking out one over his five frames, lowering his season earned run average to 0.79.
Three Baltimore middle relievers combined to limit Toronto to two hits over the next three innings before George Sherrill picked up his sixth save despite surrendering a two-run homer to Alex Rios in the ninth.
Vernon Wells went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Rios drive accounted for the other two Blue Jays runs with his one-out, two-run shot off the bench.
Dustin McGowan (0-1) allowed three runs on 10 hits, striking out five in six innings while taking the loss for Toronto, which had a three-game win streak halted.
Toronto won 10 of its 18 matchups with the Orioles a year ago and is 31-26 in the series since the start of the 2005 campaign. However, the Jays are just 8-11 in Baltimore over the past two seasons.
