Colorado Rockies (6-8) at San Diego Padres (8-7), 10:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Last year, Jake Peavy didn't get his fourth win of the season until May en route to the National League Cy Young. Tonight, Peavy will go for his fourth win in as many starts when the San Diego Padres conclude a three-game set with the Colorado Rockies at Petco Park.

Peavy went 19-6 with a 2.54 earned run average last year, striking out 240 in 223 1/3 innings. He led the NL in wins, ERA and strikeouts -- pitching's triple crown -- en route to his first-ever NL Cy Young Award. Interestingly, the right-hander went 3-1 in five April starts last year, not getting his fourth win until May 6.

The 26-year-old is ahead of that pace this year, as he has won each of his first three starts. Peavy enter's tonight's start coming off of back-to-back wins over the Dodgers. After winning his season debut on March 31 over Houston behind seven shutout innings, Peavy allowed four runs and 11 hits over two starts against Los Angeles, striking out 12 over 15 total innings.

The righty hasn't had lights-out success against the Rockies though, going 4-4 with a 4.45 ERA in 13 career starts. Peavy made three starts versus Colorado in 2007, posting a 3.54 ERA without a decision.

One of those three starts came in Colorado on October 1 in a one-game playoff to decide the NL wild card. Peavy, though, was batted around for six runs and 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings, as the Rockies went on to win the game, earn the wild card and reach the World Series.

Part of Peavy's struggles against the Rockies has to do with his inability to get two of their best hitters out. Matt Holliday is batting .389 (7-for-18) with a homer and five RBI against him, while Todd Helton is hitting .342 (13- for-38) with three home runs and four RBI.

Peavy will also face a Colorado lineup tonight that clicked in Wednesday's 10-2 victory, using a seven-run ninth inning to put things away. The Rockies pounded out 15 hits after managing just two in Tuesday's series-opening setback. That outburst came despite Helton and Holliday combining to go 1- for-8 with a run scored.

Garrett Atkins finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Chris Iannetta had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Troy Tulowitzki and Clint Barmes drove in two runs each as well.

Mark Redman (2-1) gave up two runs on three hits over five innings for the Rockies, who have won two of three. Matt Herges, Taylor Buchholz, Brian Fuentes and Manny Corpas combined to toss four hitless innings of relief.

Justin Germano (0-1), who had given up just one unearned run in his first two starts, surrendered three on eights over seven innings for the Padres, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Brian Giles had two hits and knocked in both of San Diego's runs. Scott Hairston registered the Padres' other hit -- a leadoff single in the third.

Jeff Francis will make his first start of the season tonight for Colorado against a team other than Arizona. Francis lost two tests against the Diamondbacks, getting drilled for 19 hits and 12 runs in 11 1/3 innings. He also allowed three homers in each start. The left-hander enters this start with a 9.53 ERA.

Francis has faced the Padres 16 times in his career, going 5-10 with a 5.83 ERA. The 27-year-old made five starts against San Diego last year, posting a 1-3 mark and 6.61 ERA.

Giles has six RBI and nine hits in 40 career at-bats with seven walks versus Francis, while Kevin Kouzmanoff is hitting .467 (7-for-15) with two homers and six RBI against him.

Colorado won 11 of its 19 matchups with San Diego last year, including five of nine at Petco Park.
