(Sports Network) - Dominican youngster Johnny Cueto will face both Milwaukee and veteran starter Jeff Suppan for the second time this season when the Cincinnati Reds visit the Brewers for the second of three weekend games at Miller Park.
Cueto, in his initial big-league season, made his second start against the Brewers in April 8 in Milwaukee, allowing five hits and two runs in 6 1/3 innings while picking up a no-decision in the Reds' 3-2 loss.
He'd allowed just one run and one hit in his debut victory over Arizona on April 3, but was subsequently lit up for five hits and five runs in six innings of a 9-1 loss at Pittsburgh on April 13.
Suppan, who helped lead the St. Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series before signing with Milwaukee as a free agent prior to the 2007 season, allowed six hits and a run in seven innings of the April 8 matchup, also getting a no-decision.
He's pitched once since and was also hit hard, allowing nine hits and six runs over four innings while getting a no-decision in a 9-7 Brewers win.
Milwaukee is 3-0 in games Suppan has started this season.
He is 3-2 in 12 career starts against the Reds, posting a 5.58 earned run average in 71 innings.
On Friday, Bill Hall hit a two-run home run, and Ben Sheets hurled five shutout innings before leaving with a triceps injury as the Brewers topped the Reds, 5-2.
Sheets (3-0) allowed just two hits and struck out four before leaving with tightness in his right triceps. Four Milwaukee relievers completed the win, with Eric Gagne notching his fifth save after escaping a ninth-inning jam.
Craig Counsell and J.J. Hardy each went 2-for-5 with a run scored for the Brewers, who won for the fourth time in six games. Prince Fielder, Corey Hart and Jason Kendall drove in a run apiece.
Adam Dunn and Edwin Encarnacion knocked in the runs for the Reds, losers of six of their last seven. Bronson Arroyo (0-2) took the loss after being tagged for five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits over 5 2/3 frames.
The Reds took two of three against the Brewers from April 8-10 in Milwaukee, and won eight of their last 15 games in the series last year.
