New York Yankees (9-9) at Baltimore Orioles (10-7), 7:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Ian Kennedy tries to follow up his best start of the season this evening when the New York Yankees continue their three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

After a disastrous beginning to the season, Kennedy put forth his best effort of the 2008 campaign on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing three runs and eight hits in six-plus innings. However, the 23-year-old right-hander, who has never faced the Orioles, had to leave the contest in the seventh after getting hit with a line drive on the hip.

The bullpen blew the lead and cost Kennedy his first win of the season, but the Yankees eventually won the contest.

New York hopes Kennedy gives them more than Phil Hughes did on Friday, as Melvin Mora and Jay Payton each drove in a pair of runs in a seven-run, sixth inning, leading Baltimore to an 8-2 win.

Daniel Cabrera (1-0) allowed just two runs on five hits in six-plus innings to nail down the win for the Orioles, who have won two straight games after dropping the previous two. Nick Markakis and Luke Scott added two hits and an RBI apiece for Baltimore.

Chad Moeller homered and drove in both runs for the Yankees, who have dropped two straight contests.

Hughes (0-3) surrendered five runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings to lose his third straight decision. The highly-touted righty has pitched to an 8.82 ERA this season.

Baltimore will hand the ball to left-hander Brian Burres, who is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Burres was tagged with the loss on Sunday against Tampa Bay, as he was pounded for six runs and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Burres is 1-2 lifetime versus the Yankees with a 4.64 ERA in seven games, three of which have been starts.

These divisional foes split 18 meetings in 2007, with the Orioles taking five of the nine matchups held in Camden Yards. The Yankees have won 13 of their last 22 games in Baltimore, however.
