Pittsburgh Pirates (7-9) at Chicago Cubs (10-6), 1:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Right-hander Jason Marquis makes his third attempt at a first win in 2008 today when the Chicago Cubs host the Pittsburgh Pirates in the middle test of a three-game series at Wrigley Field.

Marquis, who won 12 games for the Cubs last season, has picked up no-decisions in both starts this year, allowing a combined 12 hits and six earned runs over 10 1/3 innings.

He was touched for eight hits and four earned runs over 5 1/3 in the Cubs' 9-7 defeat of Houston on April 5, then allowed four hits and two runs over five complete in Chicago's 6-5 win at Philadelphia on April 13.

He is 5-5 in 18 career appearances - including 14 starts - against the Pirates.

Pittsburgh lefty Tom Gorzelanny will make his second start of the season against the Cubs. The 25-year-old Illinois native was battered in an April 7 game between the teams at PNC Park, surrendering six hits and seven runs in just 2 1/3 innings en route to a no-decision in the Pirates' 10-8 loss.

He rebounded nicely in his next outing, scattering four hits and allowing a single run in 6 1/3 innings of a 9-1 win against Cincinnati.

Gorzelanny is 2-2 in five career starts against the Cubs, posting a 4.50 earned run average in 30 innings.

On Friday, Reed Johnson and Mark DeRosa each went 2-for-4 with a run batted in, and five Chicago pitchers limited Pittsburgh to just six hits as the Cubs got past the Pirates, 3-2.

Kosuke Fukudome tripled and scored for the Cubs, who have won four of five. Ryan Theriot went 2-for-4 with a triple, while Eric Patterson recorded the third Chicago RBI.

Rich Hill (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on three hits over five innings. John Lieber, Sean Marshall and Carlos Marmol then bridged the gap to Kerry Wood, who notched his fourth save.

Nate McLouth homered for the Pirates, losers of three straight. Xavier Nady went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, while Jason Bay collected a pair of hits and scored a run.

Ian Snell (2-1) absorbed the loss after being touched for three runs on nine hits in six frames.
