Arizona Diamondbacks (16-6) at San Diego Padres (9-14), 10:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Five-time Cy Young Award winner Randy Johnson will make his third start of the season tonight for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who will take on the San Diego Padres in the first of three straight games at Petco Park.

Johnson made his first start of the season on April 14 at San Francisco due to nagging back problems. He did not record a decision that day, and recently suffered a loss to the Padres on Sunday, allowing six runs -- four earned -- over 5 2/3 innings of a 9-4 setback at Chase Field. The southpaw is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA so far in 2008.

The Big Unit owns a 14-5 record with a 2.47 earned run average through 24 career games (23 starts) against NL West-rival San Diego.

Arizona improved to 16-6 on the season after Thursday's 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of a two-game series at Chavez Ravine. Jeff Salazar homered and Conor Jackson drove in two runs for the division-leading Diamondbacks, who are off to the best start in franchise history and have won three of four and seven of nine contests.

Chris Young went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while starter Edgar Gonzalez allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings for the win.

San Diego will try to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak when it hosts Arizona tonight. The Padres have lost eight of nine games, including Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Giants in the final contest of a two-game series.

Starting pitcher Chris Young was the hard-luck loser, allowing just one run on two hits over seven innings. He walked three and fanned 10 batters, but gave up Rich Aurilia's game-deciding solo homer in the seventh inning.

Randy Wolf will try to pitch the Padres back into the win column tonight, and is 2-0 with a 2.49 ERA in four starts this season. Wolf has won back-to-back starts, including Sunday's win over the D'Backs on the road. He posted the victory despite giving up four runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Wolf, a left-hander, is 6-2 with a 4.25 earned run average through 11 career starts against Arizona.

The Diamondbacks just took two of three games against San Diego from April 18-20, and are 12-9 in the last 21 meetings in the series.
