LA Angels of Anaheim (15-9) at Detroit Tigers (10-14), 3:55 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Armando Galarraga tries to win his third game in as many starts this afternoon when the Detroit Tigers continue their three-game set with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Comerica Park.

Galarraga, starting in place of the injured Dontrelle Willis, has been a pleasant surprise for the Tigers, winning both of his starts, while pitching to a 1.50 earned run average. He was superb on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays, as Galarraga scattered three hits over 5 1/3 scoreless innings to nail down the win.

The 25-year-old righty, who is the only Tigers starter with two wins, received a no-decision in his only other start against the Angels. He surrendered five runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings of that one.

Detroit saw its season-high four-game winning streak come to an end on Friday, as Ervin Santana tossed 6 1/3 solid innings and Casey Kotchman added a two-run single that knocked in the winning run, lifting Los Angeles to a 4-3 win.

Santana (4-0) limited the Tigers' potent offense to three runs on six hits and struck out four, as the Angels won their third straight game and sixth in their last eight tries.

Vladimir Guerrero homered and drove in two runs, while Chone Figgins and Torii Hunter each recorded a double.

Nate Robertson (0-3) was tagged with the loss and surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings.

Placido Polanco went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Curtis Granderson belted a solo home run in the setback for the Tigers, who lost their fourth straight to the Halos. Granderson has now homered in consecutive games and has six runs and four RBI in three games after starting the season on the disabled list with a broken finger.

Los Angeles will pin its hopes today on right-hander Dustin Moseley, who is 1-2 with a 7.78 ERA on the season. Moseley was tagged with the loss on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners, as he allowed four runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. He has given up at least four runs in each of his four starts this season.

Moseley has faced the Tigers four times (one start) and is 1-0 against them with a 4.50 ERA.

The Angels won five of their eight meetings with the Tigers a year ago and are 17-10 in the series since the start of the 2005 campaign. LA is also 7-5 in Motown in that time.
