Atlanta Braves (12-12) at New York Mets (12-11), 1:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New York Mets seem to be back on track, as they prepare to close out a three-game series with the NL East-rival Atlanta Braves this afternoon from Shea Stadium.

Even though it was just their second win in seven tries, the Mets ended a two- game slide with Saturday's 4-3 triumph over the Braves. David Wright had a pair of hits and Carlos Beltran hit a two-run double to highlight a four-run third inning that propelled New York to victory.

Damion Easley was 2-for-4 with a double, while Ryan Church and Carlos Delgado drove in a run apiece for the Mets, who are 1-1 on a six-game homestand. Starting pitcher John Maine got the win after striking out seven and allowing two runs on three hits in five frames.

Four New York relievers combined to yield just one run on three hits over the next three innings, then closer Billy Wagner recorded his fifth save with a shutout ninth.

Taking the hill for the Mets on Sunday will be Nelson Figueroa, who is 1-1 with a 4.05 earned run average in five games (three starts) this season.

Figueroa is 1-1 in his last three outings -- all starts -- and was handed the loss on April 22 in an 8-1 loss at the Chicago Cubs. He allowed three runs and seven hits over five frames.

The skinny righty faced the Braves in an 11-5 loss on April 5, throwing an inning of relief and giving up a pair of runs. Figueroa is 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA in seven career games (two starts) versus Atlanta.

Braves starter Tim Hudson surrendered four runs on seven hits over three innings before being lifted for Buddy Carlyle on Saturday. Martin Prado ended 2-for-4 with a run batted in and Mark Teixeira added an RBI double, but the Braves couldn't generate any offense over the final three innings and lost for the third time in five games.

John Smoltz will try to get back in the win column when he toes the rubber this afternoon. Smoltz suffered his first loss of the season the last time out on Tuesday in a 6-0 loss to Washington, as he surrendered just one run and five hits in a season-high seven innings of work.

Smoltz, though, joined the 3,000-strikeout club with 10 K's for the second consecutive outing. Smoltz, who is 3-1 with a miniscule 0.78 ERA in four starts this season, had won his first three trips to the mound in 2008.

The right-hander defeated the Mets on April 6 this season after he hurled five shutout innings during a 3-1 victory. Smoltz is 18-14 with 24 saves and a 3.37 ERA in 69 career games (41 starts) against New York.

Atlanta is 3-1 against the Mets this season.
