New York Yankees (12-13) at Cleveland Indians (12-12), 1:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - C.C. Sabathia tries to follow up his best start of the year this afternoon when the Cleveland Indians continue their four-game set with the New York Yankees at Progressive Field.

Sabathia had been absolutely brutal through his first four starts, allowing 27 runs in 18 frames. However, the AL's reigning Cy Young Award winner turned it around in his last trip to the hill on Tuesday against Kansas City, as he scattered four hits over six scoreless innings for his first win of the season, improving him to 1-3, while lowering his earned run average to a still lofty 10.13.

The 27-year-old left-hander, who is eligible to become a free-agent at season's end, has struggled mightily in his career against the Yankees, going a miserable 1-7 against them with a 7.13 ERA in eight starts.

Sabathia will be opposed by one of the best right-handers in the AL in Chien- Ming Wang, who is 4-0 with a 3.94 ERA. Wang, who lost twice to Cleveland in last year's ALDS, picked up the win against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, allowing three runs and 10 hits in six frames.

The victory was Wangs 50th in 85 starts, making him the fastest pitcher to that mark since Dwight Gooden did it in 82 starts back in 1986.

Wang has faced the Tribe three times in the regular season and is 2-1 against them with a 3.72 ERA.

In the second game of this set on Saturday, Victor Martinez laced an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning as Cleveland clipped the Yankees, 4-3.

Against Ross Ohlendorf (0-1), Grady Sizemore singled with one out, and moved to second when David Dellucci singled to right. Travis Hafner was granted an intentional walk that loaded the bases, then Martinez deposited a pitch to left in front of a drawn-in outfield to score Sizemore for the winning run.

Sizemore, Dellucci and Hafner also drove in runs for the Indians, who have won five straight games.

Masahide Kobayashi (1-0) earned his first major-league victory by allowing just two hits with two strikeouts over two relief innings. Starter Jeremy Sowers was charged with seven hits and three runs over 5 1/3 frames.

Jorge Posada had a three-run triple for the Yankees, who have dropped three in a row. Johnny Damon finished 4-for-5 and Derek Jeter added three hits in the loss.

Starter Ian Kennedy was solid in the no-decision, allowing three runs and four hits over five innings.

New York swept the regular season series from Cleveland last year, winning all six matchups. The Yankees have also won eight of 10 overall in the series and five of seven in Cleveland.
