Cincinnati Reds (11-15) at St. Louis Cardinals (16-10), 8:15 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Busch Stadium has been a safe haven so far this season for the St. Louis Cardinals, who will continue a nine-game homestand tonight with the first of three straight games versus the Cincinnati Reds.

St. Louis is 10-5 as the host in 2008 and took two of three games versus the Houston Astros over the weekend to open the lengthy homestand. It posted its second straight win with Sunday's 5-1 triumph in the series finale, as starter Kyle Lohse scattered four hits over six innings of one-run ball. He struck out three batters and walked just one before giving way to Kyle McClellan, who earned his first save with three shutout innings of relief.

Troy Glaus and Albert Pujols each homered, while Ryan Ludwick drove in a pair of runs during a four-run fifth inning. The Cardinals will close out the homestand with three consecutive games versus Chicago from May 2-4.

Todd Wellemeyer will try to stay unbeaten on the season when he takes the hill for the Cardinals on Monday. He is 2-0 with a 3.77 ERA in five starts this season, and posted a no-decision the last time out at Pittsburgh on April 23. Wellemeyer allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings of a 7-4 loss at PNC Park.

The right-hander, who is 2-0 at home this season, will make his second career start against Cincinnati tonight, as he owns a 1-1 record with a 4.22 earned run average in 15 appearances (one start).

Cincinnati will resume a nine-game road trip on Monday and just won the last two installments of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. In Sunday's 10-1 pounding, starting pitcher Edinson Volquez allowed one run on five hits and three walks in seven innings of work. He also fanned a career-high 10 batters.

Brandon Phillips belted a pair of solo home runs and finished 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Reds, who outscored the Giants, 21-13, in the weekend set. Ryan Freel was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in the win. Cincinnati will also visit the Atlanta Braves on the current swing.

Reds starter Bronson Arroyo has been struggling this season, toting an 0-3 record with a 7.56 earned run average through five starts. He has dropped consecutive starts and was roughed up in his latest outing on April 23 versus Houston. Arroyo yielded a season-high eight runs and 10 hits over a season-low 3 2/3 innings during a 9-3 setback at Great American Ballpark.

The right-hander is 3-5 with a 4.38 ERA in 14 career games (12 starts) against the Cardinals.

St. Louis went 9-6 against the Reds last season, going 7-2 at Busch Stadium.
