(Sports Network) - Japanese import Hiroki Kuroda will attempt to snap a four- start winless skid when the surging Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Florida Marlins today for the finale of a three-game series at Dolphin Stadium.
Kuroda, a 33-year-old right-hander in his first major-league season, earned a win in his initial start after tossing seven innings of three-hit, one-run ball against San Diego on April 4. He's 0-2 with a pair of no-decisions since, allowing at least seven hits in each outing while seeing his earned run average swell from 1.29 to 3.82.
Kuroda allowed nine hits and five runs over six innings in a no decision Friday against Colorado in his most recent outing. He has never previously faced the Marlins.
For Florida, right-hander Blake Badenhop makes his fourth start this afternoon and still searches for an initial win.
The 25-year-old Ohio native tossed an inning of scoreless relief in his major- league debut on April 9 at Washington, then entered the starting rotation and has gone 0-2 with a no decision in three starts while allowing 19 hits and 13 runs in 13 innings.
Badenhop was touched for eight hits and six runs in his last outing, which came on April 24 at Atlanta, and dropped a 7-4 verdict to the Braves.
A 19th-round pick of the Detroit Tigers in 2005, Badenhop has never faced the Dodgers.
Los Angeles extended its win streak to five consecutive games with Wednesday's 13-1 rout of the Marlins. Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with three RBI and scored twice for the Dodgers, while Rafael Furcal notched the first five-hit game of his career and scored three times.
Blake DeWitt went 2-for-5 with four RBI, James Loney smacked a three-run triple and Russell Martin ended 2-for-2 with a solo home run to aid in the victory. Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley (1-4) broke out of his season-long slide and picked up his first win after allowing one run on three hits while striking out eight over seven innings.
Scott Olsen (3-1) took the loss for the Marlins, allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings. Four Florida relievers combined to surrender nine runs -- six earned -- over three innings.
Florida won four of its seven meetings with the Dodgers a year ago, with the teams splitting a four-game series in Miami.
