(Sports Network) - Baltimore lefty Brian Burres goes for his third straight victory today when the Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays in the final game of a three-game series at Camden Yards.

Burres, a 27-year-old Oregon native, began the season with a win, a loss and a no-decision in his first three appearances -- two starts -- but has since rattled off consecutive wins over the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.

In those outings, the former 31st-round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants allowed eight hits over 13 2/3 scoreless innings.

The last run scored against him came April 13, when he dropped a 6-2 decision to the Rays in St. Petersburg, a game in which he allowed five hits and six runs in 4 2/3 innings.

He's 0-2 lifetime against Tampa Bay, having started twice and faced them in relief eight times. Overall, he's allowed 27 hits and 22 earned runs in 17 1/3 innings.

The Rays counter with Matt Garza, making his second start since returning from a stint on the disabled list.

The former first-round pick of the Minnesota Twins made two starts before heading to the DL with nerve irritation in his right arm. One of those starts was against the Orioles on April 2, in which he gave up six hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

He came back on April 25 against Boston and got a no-decision after allowing five hits and three runs in five innings of Tampa Bay's 5-4 win.

Overall, in three starts, Garza has allowed 17 hits and 11 runs in 13 innings.

He's faced Baltimore four times and is 3-0 with a 3.68 ERA in 22 innings.

On Wednesday, Andy Sonnanstine's dominant performance on the hill was complemented by Tampa Bay's five-run seventh, as the Rays came away with an 8-1 triumph over Baltimore.

Sonnanstine (4-1) threw only 102 pitches -- 66 for strikes -- in his eight- inning start, allowing a lone run on six hits and two walks while fanning five, as Tampa Bay got back in the win column after dropping the series opener on Tuesday.

Eric Hinske, who walked three times in the contest, laced a two-run homer, while Carlos Pena and Dioner Navarro each drove in two runs in the game- altering seventh for the Rays, who have won seven of their last eight.

Matt Albers' (2-1) second start of the season was efficient, but the first- year Oriole took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits through six innings.

Brian Roberts was 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and the lone Orioles RBI, as Baltimore has fallen in three of four.

Reliever Bob McCrory recorded just one out while being charged with four runs on two hits and two walks in the setback.

Tampa Bay leads the series, 4-3, so far this season, with the teams splitting four games played at Camden Yards.
