Seattle Mariners (15-26) at Texas Rangers (20-21), 2:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers try and complete a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners this afternoon when the AL West rivals conclude their set at Rangers Ballpark.

The Rangers made it seven wins in their last eight tries on Tuesday, as Gerald Laird went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, lifting Texas to a 5-2 win. Ramon Vazquez was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in for the Rangers, who also swept the Mariners in a four-game set last August in Arlington.

Texas starter Kason Gabbard did not earn a decision after giving up two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Josh Rupe (2-1) was credited with the win after his scoreless 1 2/3 innings of relief, while Joaquin Benoit and Eddie Guardado pitched an scoreless inning apiece, the latter earning his first save of the season.

Felix Hernandez (2-4) wiggled out of several jams throughout the game, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and five walks, while fanning three in a six-inning setback for Seattle, which has lost five straight and has fallen in 12 of its last 14 affairs.

Getting the call for the Rangers today will be righty Scott Feldman, who is 1-1 with a 4.07 ERA. Feldman earned the victory on Friday with a superb effort against the Oakland Athletics, as he allowed two hits over six scoreless frames.

Feldman will be making his first start against the Mariners, but has faced them nine times out of the bullpen without surrendering a run.

Seattle will counter with veteran righty Carlos Silva, who is winless in his last four starts. Silva was pegged with the loss on Friday against Chicago, surrendering four runs and eight hits in seven innings to fall to 3-2 on the year, while raising his ERA to 4.33.

Silva beat the Rangers back on April 2 and is 4-4 lifetime against them with a 4.25 ERA in 10 starts.

Texas has won six of its nine meetings with the Mariners this year, but lost six of nine at home to them last season.
