Washington Nationals (18-26) at Baltimore Orioles (23-19), 1:35 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles shoot for their fifth straight win this afternoon when they try and complete a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals at Camden Yards.

In the second game of this set on Saturday, Nick Markakis and Jay Payton each hit two-run homers, as the surging Orioles eked out a 6-5 win. Markakis finished with three RBI as Baltimore won for the seventh time in its last eight contests.

Brian Burres (4-4) snapped a three-start losing streak by allowing four hits and two runs over 6 2/3 innings. The lefty walked two and had three strikeouts to post his first victory since April 26 against the White Sox.

Aaron Boone had a two-run single and Ryan Zimmerman homered for the Nationals, losers in six of their last nine games.

Odalis Perez (1-4) absorbed the loss and was charged with 10 hits and six runs through five innings.

Hoping to complete the sweep today for the O's will be right-hander Jeremy Guthrie, who is unbeaten in his last three starts. Guthrie picked up the win on Tuesday against Boston, as he allowed three runs (two earned) and eight hits in six innings to run his record to 2-3, while lowering his earned run average to 4.18.

Guthrie has faced the Nats twice without recording a decision, but has pitched to a 1.29 ERA in those outings.

Washington will hand the ball to lefty John Lannan, who has lost two of his last three starts. Lannan fell to 3-4 on Tuesday against the New York Mets, surrendering four runs and 12 hits in six innings.

Lannan, who is pitching to a 3.74 ERA this season, has never faced the Orioles.

Washington took four of six in last year's edition of the Beltway Series.

Baltimore was just 6-12 in interleague action a year ago, while Washington split its 18 games with the Junior Circuit. The O's also lost eight of their nine interleague games at home.
