(Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants wrap up the first leg of their nine-game road trip this afternoon, when they conclude a three-game set with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
The Giants have split the first two tests of the swing and halted a season- high six-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory on Tuesday. Fred Lewis and Rich Aurilia both homered, with Aurilia finishing 3-for-4.
San Francisco's Randy Winn went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a double to extend his hitting streak to 15 games, the longest active run in the majors. He is hitting .367 over that tear with 13 runs scored, seven doubles, two homers and five RBI.
Giants starter Tim Lincecum (6-1) was effectively wild, walking four with five hits over six frames. The right-hander struck out six and gave up three runs, actually raising his earned run average to 2.17.
The Rockies made it close by plating two runs in the ninth off of Giants closer Brian Wilson, who eventually clinched his 13th save. Clint Barmes hit a two-out, two-run homer and Matt Holliday doubled off the top of the right- field scoreboard. Wilson intentionally walked Todd Helton and then retired Garrett Atkins to end the game.
Barmes now has a 13-game hitting streak and has posted a .469 average (23- for-49) with three homers and eight RBI in that time.
Colorado starter Aaron Cook (6-3) had his usual sinker ball working, getting 16 groundouts to only two fly outs over seven frames. He struck out three with zero walks, but gave up four runs on 10 hits to suffer the loss.
The Rockies send Ubaldo Jimenez to the hill today. Jimenez is 0-3 over his last seven outings, as he hasn't won since April 8 versus Atlanta. The right- hander has also dropped back-to-back tests, including Friday's setback to Minnesota.
Jimenez lasted seven innings -- his longest start of the year -- against the Twins and yielded three runs on eight hits in a 4-2 loss.
Jimenez is 0-1 with a 4.35 earned run average in two starts against the Giants, and got a no-decision against them on April 30 after 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball. He held San Francisco to just three hits on that day.
Jonathan Sanchez starts for the Giants and is coming off a tough-luck loss versus the White Sox that pushed his current winless drought to four starts (0-2). Sanchez lasted 6 2/3 innings and gave up three walks and five hits. However, one of those hits was a two-run homer by Alexei Ramirez that accounted for the only runs of the game.
Sanchez is now 2-3 with a 4.59 ERA on the season and faced Jimenez and the Rockies on April 30 to start his winless run. The lefty got a no-decision versus Colorado after giving up two runs on five hits and five walks in 5 2/3 innings. He has yet to record a decision in nine games (2 starts) against Colorado with a 6.89 ERA.
These two clubs met in San Francisco in late April, with the Giants taking two of three over the Rockies.
