Cleveland Indians (22-24) at Chicago White Sox (25-20), 8:11 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox target their eighth straight win this evening and in the process will try and complete a three-game sweep of the Cleveland Indians at U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox will also pay tribute to Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk prior to tonight's contest. During his 13 seasons on the South Side, Fisk played in 1,421 games for the White Sox and batted .257 with 214 home runs and 762 RBI. He still ranks among the team's career leaders in games played, extra-base hits, home runs, RBI and total bases. He has agreed to become a team ambassador, meaning he'll make appearances and serve as a speaker at functions on behalf of the team.

Fisk, of course, left the organization with hard feelings after the team cut him to end his career, just two days after honoring him with a day in his honor in 1993.

Chicago continued its strong play on Wednesday, as Jermaine Dye hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs, lifting the White Sox to a 7-2 win. Jim Thome also homered while Joe Crede and Alexei Ramirez picked up an RBI apiece for Chicago, which is in the midst of its best run since reeling off nine straight wins from June 15 - August 24, 2006.

Javier Vazquez (5-3) won for Chicago, going seven innings in his start and giving up four hits and two runs, fanning seven with one walk.

Michael Aubrey had a solo home run and Travis Hafner added an RBI double for the Indians, losers of five straight. Cleveland has managed to cross the plate just 12 times in the skid.

Paul Byrd (2-4) was the hard-luck loser, allowing five hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Hoping to help complete Chicago's first sweep of Cleveland since 2003 will be left-hander Mark Buehrle, who won for the first time in seven starts on Saturday. Buehrle gave up just a run and seven hits to the San Francisco Giants in that one, as he improved to just 2-5 on the season, while lowering his earned run average to 5.27.

Buehrle received a no-decision against the Indians earlier in the year and is 8-11 lifetime against them with a 4.93 ERA in 30 games, 29 of which have been starts.

Cleveland will counter with lefty Aaron Laffey, who is 2-2 with a 1.35 ERA. Laffey won his second straight start last Thursday against the Oakland Athletics, who managed just an unearned run and five hits in seven innings.

Laffey defeated the White Sox in his only other start against them, allowing four runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Chicago has won three of the five matchups between these AL Central rivals this season, but Cleveland is 24-18 in the series since the start of the 2006 campaign. The Tribe also won six of nine in Chicago last season.
