(Sports Network) - Brandon Webb tries to bounce back from his only loss of the season this afternoon when the Arizona Diamondbacks conclude their four-game series with the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.
Webb became the first pitcher in D'Backs history to win his first nine starts before falling to the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, as he surrendered three runs and six hits in seven innings to drop him to 9-1 on the year, while raising his earned run average to 2.69.
The 29-year-old right-hander was trying to become the first pitcher to win 10 straight at the outset of a season since San Diego's Andy Hawkins did so in 1985.
Webb is 2-1 lifetime against the Braves with a 1.17 ERA in five starts.
In the third game of this series on Sunday, Eric Byrnes hit his first career grand slam and Arizona closed the game with seven unanswered runs on its way to a 9-3 victory.
Orlando Hudson went 3-for-5 with three doubles and a run batted in for the Diamondbacks, who have taken two of the first three in the series. Chris Young went 2-for-4, homered and drove in two runs, while Conor Jackson ended 2-for-2 with a triple, a run scored and three walks.
Micah Owings (6-2) earned the win after allowing three runs -- two earned -- on six hits in six-plus innings.
Omar Infante drove in a run for the Braves while starting in place of Chipper Jones, who sat out with back spasms. Yunel Escobar added an RBI as Atlanta lost a home day game for the first time all season, falling to 9-1.
Jones, who is hitting a major league-best .417, is questionable for today's finale.
Tom Glavine (2-2) was shelled for six runs in 4 2/3 innings, surrendering five hits and walking six.
Hoping to nail down a split in the series for the Braves today will be righty Jair Jurrjens, who is 5-3 with a 2.64 ERA. Jurrjens earned the win on Wednesday against the New York Mets, as he yielded two runs (one earned) and five hits in seven frames.
Jurrjens has never faced Arizona.
Arizona won four of its six matchups with the Braves last season and is 12-4 against them since the start of the 2006 campaign, including wins in eight of its last 10 visits to Turner Field.
