(Sports Network) - Journeyman right-hander Shawn Chacon aims for his third win in three starts today, when the Houston Astros visit Miller Park for the third and final game of a weekend series with the host Milwaukee Brewers.
Chacon, with his fourth team since reaching the major leagues in 2001, got no- decisions in his initial nine starts of 2008 before defeating the Chicago Cubs on May 21 in Houston. In that game, the 30-year-old Alaska native allowed five hits and three runs in seven innings of a 5-3 Astros' win.
He made it two in a row Tuesday at St. Louis, scattering seven hits and allowing two runs in seven innings while walking none and striking out seven.
Chacon is 1-2 with a pair of saves in 12 lifetime appearances against the Brewers, having posted a 3.33 earned run average in 27 innings.
Milwaukee righty Dave Bush will try to end a three-start winless drought when he toes the rubber today.
Bush picked up his lone win of the season on May 12 against the Cardinals after allowing four hits and a run in six innings. He's 0-1 with a no-decision since, and surrendered 20 hits and 12 earned runs in 18 innings.
Bush is 4-1 with a complete game in 10 lifetime appearances (8 starts) against the Astros, allowing 22 earned runs and striking out 42 batters in 57 1/3 innings.
On Saturday, Ben Sheets finished one out shy of his third complete game of the season, while Prince Fielder and Russell Branyan each hit mammoth home runs as the Brewers topped the Astros, 4-1.
Sheets (6-1) held the Astros to one run on seven hits in 8 2/3 innings, striking out five and allowing just one walk.
Ryan Braun knocked in his 40th run of the season for the Brewers, who have won two straight and five of their last six games. Rickie Weeks, Corey Hart and Branyan each went 2-for-4 in the win.
Darin Erstad knocked in the lone run for the Astros, who dropped their fourth straight decision. Brian Moehler (2-2) allowed three runs on six hits over five innings to absorb the loss, striking out six and walking one.
Houston swept the Brewers in a three-game set earlier in the season after Milwaukee took 13 of 18 matchups in 2007.
