(Sports Network) - Livan Hernandez tries to keep his unblemished record at the Metrodome intact this evening, when his Minnesota Twins wrap up their four- game set with the New York Yankees.

However, Hernandez, who is 4-0 in his six home starts, hasn't won in his last three trips to the hill and enters tonight's tilt on the heels of back-to-back shaky outings.

Hernandez received a no-decision on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals, as he allowed eight runs (6 earned) and 13 hits in six innings of a 9-8 win. He had allowed six runs (5 earned) and 10 hits over 5 1/3 frames of a no- decision in his previous trip to the hill.

In 12 starts this season, the 33-year-old right-hander is 6-2 with a 4.60 ERA.

Hernandez has faced the Yankees four times over the course of his career and is 0-3 with a 6.08 ERA against them.

Minnesota got back in the win column on Sunday, as Michael Cuddyer had three hits and drove in three runs in a 5-1 win over New York. Justin Morneau had two hits and two runs scored while Mike Redmond also scored twice for the Twins, who snapped a two-game skid and won for the fourth time in their last six games.

The game also featured a scary moment in the fifth inning, when Minnesota starter Nick Blackburn was hit in the face with a line drive off the bat of Bobby Abreu. He was taken off the field with a bloody nose and X-rays taken later turned up negative. Brian Bass (2-1) relieved Blackburn and got the win after pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Derek Jeter hit a solo home run for the Yankees, who fell for only the third time in their last 11 games. Starter Darrell Rasner (3-2) gave up four runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings to get the loss.

New York will call upon left-hander Andy Pettitte to get the team back on track tonight, as he tries to win his third straight start. Pettitte defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, when he surrendered two runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings to run his record to 5-5 and lower his ERA to 4.11.

Pettitte is 8-5 lifetime against the Twins with a 3.52 ERA in 17 starts.

New York won five of its seven meetings with the Twins a year ago after the teams split a six-game series in each of the two previous seasons.
