Los Angeles Dodgers (31-37) at Detroit Tigers (31-37), 1:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Recent first-round draft choice Clayton Kershaw takes his fifth shot at a first major league victory today when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit Comerica Park for the finale of a three-game interleague series with the Detroit Tigers.

The seventh overall pick in the 2006 draft, Kershaw made his big-league debut on May 25 against St. Louis, getting a no-decision after allowing five hits and two runs in six innings of the Dodgers' 4-3 win.

He followed a similar script on May 30 at Shea Stadium, getting another no- decision after being touched for five hits and four runs in 3 2/3 innings of the Dodgers' 9-5 defeat of the New York Mets.

His first decision, a loss, came on June 4 against Colorado, which was followed on June 10 at San Diego by another no-decision. Overall, he's allowed 21 hits and 10 runs in 20 innings, walking 13 and striking out 19.

He's allowed 11 hits and six runs in nine innings of two road starts.

For Detroit, lefty Nate Robertson can continue a string in which he's won three of four starts.

Most recently, the 30-year-old defeated the Chicago White Sox on June 10, allowing eight hits and three runs over 6 1/3 innings of a 6-4 victory.

He began the season at 1-5 in eight starts with a 6.08 earned run average, which he has since lowered slightly to 5.88.

Robertson got a no-decision in his lone career start against the Dodgers after allowing five hits and four runs in five innings.

On Saturday, Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI as the Tigers racked up 15 hits in a 12-7 victory over the Dodgers.

Eddie Bonine (1-0), who had his contract purchased from Triple-A Toledo before the contest, allowed six runs on nine hits while striking out two over 5 1/3 innings to win his major league debut.

Marcus Thames and Miguel Cabrera each belted two-run homers, and Ivan Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with an RBI, as Detroit won its fifth consecutive game.

Brad Penny (5-9) lasted just 3 2/3 innings while allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks to lose his seventh straight decision. Andre Ethier had two hits, including a two-run homer, and four RBI to lead the Dodgers, who have lost four in a row.

These two clubs are playing their first series since the Dodgers took two of three at home from June 6-8, 2005. They hadn't met in Detroit since the 2003 season, a three-game sweep for LA.
