Detroit Tigers (34-39) at San Diego Padres (32-43), 10:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres try to string back-to-back wins together this evening when they play the second of three interleague games against the Detroit Tigers at Petco Park.

The Padres snapped their four-game losing streak in the opener of this set on Friday, as Adrian Gonzalez's two-run single highlighted a four-run eighth inning in a 6-2 San Diego win.

Scott Hairston also drove in two runs for San Diego, while Edgar Gonzalez finished 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Khalil Greene and Chase Headley added solo home runs in the win.

Greg Maddux was solid for the Padres, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts in seven innings of work. The rally made a winner out of Heath Bell (5-3), who surrendered a game-tying home run in the top of the eighth. Cla Meredith hurled a scoreless ninth.

Curtis Granderson and Placido Polanco each belted a solo home run for Detroit, which lost for just the third time in its last 13 games.

Eddie Bonine, making only his second major league start, gave up two runs on six hits in seven innings, but came away with a no-decision. Fernando Rodney (0-1) was saddled with the loss.

Getting the call for the Tigers this evening will be left-hander Nate Robertson, who has won four of his last five starts. Robertson's latest victory came on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as he scattered four hits over six scoreless innings to run his record to 5-6, while lowering his earned run average to 5.46.

Robertson has never faced the Padres.

San Diego will counter with righty Cha Seung Baek, who is 1-1 with a 3.93 ERA in four games (three starts) for the Padres since being acquired from Seattle. Baek received a no-decision against the Cleveland Indians last Saturday, serving up three runs and just two hits in seven innings of his team's 8-3 win.

Baek is 1-0 lifetime against the Tigers with a 3.86 ERA in three games (one start).

Detroit swept a three-game series from the Padres the last time these teams met back in 2005. The Tigers also took two of three from the Friars back in 2003.
