(Sports Network) - Milwaukee starter Dave Bush has a tough act to follow when he takes the mound tonight, as the Brewers resume a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.
Bush will try to win his first game on the road this season when he takes the hill on Tuesday, just one day after Brewers ace Ben Sheets hurled a complete game in the opener of this series. Sheets gave up just four hits and one run while striking out seven batters to win his fifth straight decision and support a 4-1 triumph.
Bush, meanwhile, is 0-5 with an 8.10 earned run average in seven games (six starts) as the visitor this season. In his most recent start on June 19 versus Toronto at Miller Park, Bush ended a personal two-start losing streak with eight sparkling innings of one-run, two-hit ball in an 8-7 victory.
The right-handed Wake Forest product is 0-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two career starts against Atlanta. Bush did not factor in the outcome of a 3-2 victory over Atlanta on May 27 this season at home, when he yielded a pair of runs in seven frames.
Mike Cameron clubbed a two-run homer, and both J.J. Hardy and Ryan Braun ended with RBI doubles for the Brewers, who have won three straight and seven of eight contests. Milwaukee opened a 10-game road trip on a winning note and improved to 25-13 away from Miller Park this season.
Braves starter Jo-Jo Reyes was tagged for four runs on six hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work to absorb the loss last night. Kelly Johnson had a pair of hits and scored a run for the Braves, who have dropped three of their last five games and are 27-13 at Turner Field in 2008. Atlanta is 2-2 on a six-game homestand.
Toeing the rubber for the first time at Turner Field tonight will be Atlanta rookie Charlie Morton, who is 1-0 with a 4.91 earned run average through two starts this season.
Morton made his debut on June 14 at Angel Stadium and allowed three runs and five hits in six innings of a 9-4 victory for his first major-league win. He then took the mound five days later in a 5-4 loss at Texas, yielding three runs and five hits in five frames for the no-decision.
The right-hander from Flemington, New Jersey will obviously meet Milwaukee for the first time in his career.
Milwaukee won two of three games against the Braves from May 27-29 this season at Miller Park. Atlanta went 3-1 at home against the Brewers last season.
