Arizona Diamondbacks (40-38) at Boston Red Sox (48-32), 7:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - While the Arizona Diamondbacks have been struggling, so to has pitcher Randy Johnson. The veteran left-hander, who has lost four straight starts and is winless over his past six trips to the hill, will lead the D'Backs tonight in the finale of a three-game interleague series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Johnson has given up at least three runs during his personal four-game losing streak and hasn't won since May 18. In his previous outing on Friday at Minnesota, Johnson was reached for seven runs and 11 hits in eight innings of a 7-2 loss against the Twins. He is 4-5 with a 5.09 earned run average in 13 starts this season.

The five-time Cy Young Award winner will try to rebound against a Boston club he is 16-7 with a 4.47 ERA against through 30 career games (29 starts).

Johnson, who is 12 wins shy of 300, is just 1-3 with a 3.89 earned run average in six road starts this season.

After getting swept in three games at the Metrodome over the weekend, the NL West-leading D'Backs got back on track with a win over Boston in Monday's series opener. However, a 5-4 setback on Tuesday put Arizona back in the loss column.

Chad Tracy did all he could for Arizona with a three-run homer and four RBI, while starter Doug Davis gave up three runs on seven hits in seven-plus innings for a no-decision.

Chad Qualls was touched for two runs on four hits in just two-thirds of the eighth inning to absorb the loss for Arizona, which is 1-4 on a nine-game road trip and 16-23 away from the desert. The Diamondbacks are four games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the division standings.

Jason Varitek drove in the Red Sox' go-ahead run during an eighth-inning rally and Mike Lowell knocked in a pair of runs for Boston last night. Dustin Pedroia was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for AL East-leading Boston, which has won two of three and improved to 2-3 on a six-game homestand. The Red Sox are a game ahead of Tampa Bay in the division standings and 30-10 at Fenway Park this season.

Red Sox rookie Justin Masterson gave up four runs on seven hits in a six- inning start, while Chris Smith tossed two scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Boston's Kevin Youkilis, who left Monday's game after getting hit in the face by a warm-up throw from Lowell, played first base in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement.

The Red Sox will send a veteran pitcher of their own to the mound on Wednesday, as knuckleballer Tim Wakefield gets the nod. Wakefield is only 1-4 over his last five decisions and lost to St. Louis his previous time out Friday at Fenway Park.

Wakefield yielded four runs -- three earned -- and seven hits in seven innings of a 5-4 setback to the Cardinals. The right-hander has pitched at least seven innings in five straight appearances.

Wakefield faced Arizona only once in his career, back on June 8, 2002 as a reliever. In a 3-2 Boston loss, he pitched two shutout frames with a pair of strikeouts and one walk in a no-decision.

Boston won two of three games at Arizona from June 8-10 of last season. The D'Backs swept a three-game series in Beantown in the previous matchup between the clubs during the 2002 campaign. That was Arizona's only trip to Fenway Park.

Arizona is 6-8 against the American League this season, while the Red Sox own a 9-5 mark versus the Senior Circuit.
