Chicago Cubs (49-31) at Chicago White Sox (44-35), 3:55 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Right-hander Javier Vazquez returns to friendlier confines and hopes to reverse course from last week when he takes the mound for the Chicago White Sox in game two of their three-game Windy City interleague series with the Chicago Cubs at U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox won the opener, 10-3, and maintained a one-half game lead on the Minnesota Twins in the American League's Central Division.

The Cubs, meanwhile, were able to keep their 4 1/2-game lead in the National League Central when second-place St. Louis lost, 7-2, at Kansas City.

Vazquez, who's 5-1 at home this season, was touched for five hits and four earned runs in six innings in his most recent start - a 7-1 loss to the Cubs on June 22 at Wrigley Field.

He's 3-4 in 15 lifetime starts against Chicago's North Siders, having allowed 95 hits and 49 earned runs in 89 2/3 innings with 90 strikeouts.

Vazquez had won four of six decisions heading into last week's series, including home wins against Cleveland, Minnesota and Pittsburgh.

The Cubs will start Sean Gallagher, who'll face the White Sox for the first time in his 19th big-league appearance.

The 22-year-old right-hander reached the majors and made eight relief appearances last season before returning to make 10 appearances so far in 2008, including eight starts.

His most recent action came June 19 in St. Petersburg, when he allowed four hits and an unearned run in six innings, getting a no-decision in the Cubs' 8-3 loss.

His last win came June 1 against Colorado, when he surrendered six hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-3 triumph.

Gallagher is 0-3 in six road appearances in 2008, including four starts.

On Friday, Nick Swisher's grand slam capped a seven-run third inning, powering the White Sox over the Cubs.

Carlos Quentin went 4-for-5 with two runs batted in and scored twice for the White Sox, who ended a six-game losing skid to the Cubs. Jermaine Dye went 3- for-5 and drove in three for the White Sox, who have won three of four.

Jose Contreras (7-6) gave up three runs on seven hits in six-plus innings, fanning three and walking two to get the win.

Ryan Dempster (9-3) was ripped for eight runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings. Solo homers by Geovany Soto, Mike Fontenot, and Jim Edmonds provided the offense for the Cubs, who have dropped three of four.

The Cubs swept the White Sox last weekend and have won nine of the last 11 meetings.
